Tags are a system to help you, the user, browse the visions submitted to the 2007 Just Jerusalem Competition according to three main categories: themes, topics, and presentation forms.
The first category is according to the dichotomous themes of the exhibit: Connected, Fragmented, Past, Future, Reality, and Metaphor. Not every submission fit those themes so only those that we thought relevant were applied to the submission. Instead, some submissions bridge, disregarded, transcended, and included both of the themes. We wanted to encourage creative thinking and independent analysis of the submissions yet make them easy to sort through, so feel free to disagree with us and post your thoughts in the comments area following each submission or start a conversation about it in the Open Forum or following each theme in Exploring Common Themes.
The second is based on the topics or types of projects addressed by the submissions. We picked those that were most re-occurring yet there are many aspects and entry points that were not covered. Many projects were complex and covered a number of topics. The entry points are sometimes broad in scope and sometimes very specific: Wall, Education, Water, Culture, Economics, Art, Youth, Transportation, Environment, Museum, Open Space, Religion, Media/Communication, Housing, and Historic Sites. Again, please post about other entry points that you see that are reoccurring or interesting.
The final category is based on the presentation of ideas. While we could have expounded on this more, we created the areas we thought would be most interesting to the users for research and based on interests. They are: Videos, Architectural Designs, and Storytelling.
We also tagged visions by the country of the entrant’s residence, as based on the Just Jerusalem Competition registration. Many of the entrants are citizens of other countries but we did not ask this during the registration so we can only list them by his/her location at the time of the competition. We also made note of those visions which had at least one member of the submission team living in Jerusalem.
