Enveloped in the shadow of conflict, confrontation and isolation, Jerusalem in the eyes of the outside world is often full of sadness, fear, and despair. We always like to borrow the doomsday speculation concept from the religious traditions to contemplate the fate of the Holy City, and conceive the terrible disaster as a relief of the lonely life, which serve as a foil to their own recollection of good luck to face and endure the comparatively insignificant setbacks and unfortunate. Of course, all of it only exists before our accessing to this hoodoo place. When we, as historians, or pilgrimage, faithfully enter and touch the city, witnessing those who live there, then attached to an arbitrary logic like watching a new-born baby, gradually stretching, strengthening, mature, fatigue, dying, and listening to the notes as unknown as profound meaning of a statement, a dispute or a controversy. Here is Jerusalem, a lively city, respiring in the history of reality. We are captivated by that unfamiliar yet clear place and simply hope that, with the steps from beginning to the end, a just, peaceful and sustainable Jerusalem will come in 2050.
After the coming of peace in Jerusalem, all of the politics, security, and economy environment have changed, but the same remains the people, whose hearts imprinted of suffering and hatred. Therefore, peace does not mean reconciliation, and certainly, there will not be no trouble henceforth. People once wishing peace now celebrating peace seem to neither get everything nor seem to get nothing. When awaking from the faint pleasant surprise, they will continue to live the unchanged life just like a few decades ago. Throughout the life from a boy to a man, they have experienced this kind of things really much too often. Explicit partition of the land indeed needs time and wisdom and by the time of peace, there must emerge a clear line. Most of the wall will be still there, maybe guarded by the United Nations soldiers, and people have to wait in line to be searched and cross-questioned as before. The existence of this line should claim for at least the promises of the Israel government to Palestinian people of being more convenient and not exclusive and correspondingly, the promise of Palestinian of security commitments. For now, we can see that it is of paramount difficult to reach the situation of these two necessary conditions. After more than half a century of turbulence, can Palestinians unite under a strong government or the leadership of a wise proponent of peace? Accordingly, under the premise of a weakened issue of land and nation, the severe gap between rich and poor in Israel will then arise as the biggest problem, which needs to establish long-term policy in the test. When considered the ultimate commitment and debate of peace the exchange of gains and losses to be unsatisfactory, both sides will naturally and gradually, take more initiative on the policy areas in a furled vision. Palestinian refugee camps which have history or not, what they must do is something to reduce dependence on the Israeli economy, including political venting grievances and improving people's living conditions. For the sake of peace, we must change the view of complaining the Israelis, and of course, backbone Palestinian people must disdain in the begging for mercy from their former enemy. This must be encouraged, like the post-war Japanese; they use cars landing in the United States. The vast of people’s concern on the economy will weaken their political enthusiasm, which in many developing countries (such as China) is a very reliable experience. After the negotiation of the necessary infrastructure with the cunning decent investors and entrepreneurs, as well as the bureaucratic bargaining, the change will take place in the open space in front of their own home. They will need not to worry about being robbed or bulldozed when setting up the new building blocks, because this is the era of peace Palestinian villages.
For the capable refugee members, they can get rid of the brand of refugee camps, recognized the land at the foot is worth working for as home, doing business in a shop or work for others to feed themselves and the families, and to help those elderly and children who are left uncared. For the children, we need to create warm classrooms, and establish hospitals which can be accessed by the poor. Clean food, drinking water, and let all the matter in the past have been ignored or tried to use violence to resolve in an orderly transition. Assistance from the international community, the hard working to gain credibility and wealth, and the mutual aid and fraternal love between people from the bottom of their heart, the realization of one of the simplest pursue of happiness will be achieved. The dream is very long; the scene in the beginning can make all people go into raptures.
In the foreseeable future, the initiation of this pursuit will become more and more prevailing so that more and more people would join the ranks of the construction of our homes. The simple yet productive building, gradually replaced by decent shops and low-rent apartments; low dilapidated homes will gradually replaced by centralized residential. With the process from scattered to overcrowding and to disperse, the accumulation of material wealth will be used to reinvest the industry of production and construction; and the saved land will be transformed into green space in cities; the surplus of food, clothing will ensure the relatively comfortable life. Consequently, health and the environment affinity will gradually being portrayed as the spirit of the city. That is Jerusalem in 2050, and here, once in the risk of deterioration of the refugee camps, will cultivate an oasis, a home and a heaven, thus casting a miracle.
