My work is inspired of boxes of all shapes and sizes. For my structures I use forms of simplicity. I also use rectangles, squares and other shapes. However the base of my work comes from origami and symmetry. Origami is the ancient Japanese art of paper folding to create beautiful objects. Origami only uses a small number of different folds, but they can be combined in a variety of ways to make intricate designs. In order to make these papers based designed you start of with a simple square shape, then start to fold it different ways. The goal of this art is to create a given result using geometric folds and crease patterns preferably without the use of gluing or cutting the paper medium and to make simply shapes. The use of my origami shows the abstract style of structures buildings. Instead of it being a curvy form of work. When planning all the abstract structures I started off by using the simplest element then evolving it into something totally different. I produced my own Origami structures, (see other file-10 Origami pictures) by folding and sculpturing the paper into the correct shape. The reason why I like this piece of sculpture is because it shows an idea of perfection. Origami is an art form which has been around all century. I find the use of origami wonderful because it is for any one to do; it’s a fun activity for children to be involved in. The use of symmetry I enjoy using in 3 dimensional shapes. A few examples of ancient architecture that made powerful use of symmetry are the pyramids in Egypt, the Greek Parthenon and the first and second temple in Jerusalem. Some of the work I show will have forms to symmetry. (See-double sided structure)
