The following plan aims to utilize the new and widely used medium – interactive computer games – to modify hard-set concepts and labels.
We believe that generations that will learn about Jerusalem from sophisticated computer games rather than from religious preachers will be freed from contradicting concepts of Jerusalem's political-religious place among Moslems versus Jews versus Christians.
Accordingly, the subsequent Power-point presentation presents a model games system
– "The Jerusalem Gates Games" – introducing at least three clear goals: Learning the history of this important and complex city; acquiring religious tolerance; and using the games as vehicle for renewal of the existing city.
Jerusalem Gates Games are structured in seven stages – seven walls of the city and seven heavens associated with the beliefs of the three Abrahamic religions.
Through engaging ball games, each player experiences various national and religious roles and historical periods. Players fight for the city – or the opposite: save its religious treasures. Subsequently, players learn from the different languages that the city was built with; contend with good and bad spirits of the past, learn to cooperate with participants of different religions, nationalities, races, gender and finally they engage in the most important project: the formulation of a common and tolerant teaching, based on the principles of all the monotheistic religions.
Those who succeed in passing all these stages join "The Lovers of Jerusalem Council", whose goal is to offer resources and aid without bias to whoever focuses on the renewal of Jerusalem.
The council will operate in parallel with any existing governance to make the Old City into a clean and planted zone, the existing houses renovated to pronounce their character, a zone of religious and cultural tourism operated by its original inhabitants. Money for the renewal will come from the earnings of the games, without political dependence.
